Becoming a Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) demonstrates professional competency in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services for businesses and individuals. CPBs are nationally certified through the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers (NACPB) and recognized for their expertise in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and supporting sound business decision-making.
This program provides structured instruction, exam preparation, and professional guidance to help participants gain the knowledge and confidence needed to meet certification standards. Graduates are well-positioned for employment in accounting offices, small business finance departments, or to operate independently as professional bookkeepers.
Enrollment and Program Orientation
Participants enroll on a rolling basis and receive program orientation, including an overview of training expectations, timelines, participation requirements, and credential objectives for the Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) designation.
Structured Online Instruction
Participants complete structured online coursework aligned with the four sections of the CPB certification requirements: Adjusting Entries, Payroll, Depreciation, and Inventory. Instruction includes recorded lessons, interactive learning modules, practice exercises, and assessments to reinforce understanding of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
Progress Monitoring and Instructional Support
Participant progress is monitored through coursework completion and regular progress check-ins. Program staff provide instructional support, exam preparation guidance, and assistance with scheduling certification exams through the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers (NACPB).
Assessment and Certification Examinations
When ready, participants schedule and complete the CPB certification examinations through authorized NACPB online testing platforms. The program provides payment for up to four (4) certification exam sections included in tuition.
Program Completion and Credential Attainment
Program completion is achieved when participants complete all required instructional coursework and attempt the CPB certification examinations. Credential attainment occurs when all four exams are passed and the participant applies to the NACPB for the Certified Public Bookkeeper license.
Employment and Career Transition Support
Participants receive guidance on employment and self-employment pathways in bookkeeping and accounting support services, including job readiness preparation, professional expectations, and next steps toward entering the workforce or establishing an independent bookkeeping practice.
